TICKETS for this year’s Downend Round Table Fireworks display will go on sale from the beginning of October.
Organisers are advising people to get in early, after three of the last four years’ displays sold out.
Last year’s event attracted 10,000 people, and raised more than £60,000.
This year’s display, which takes place on November 7 on King George V playing fields, will once again include two displays: a quieter show at 6.30pm designed specially for younger children before the spectacular main display at 8pm, choreographed to music by award-winning pyrotechnicians SkyBurst.
In between there will be a bonfire at 7.15pm, and throughout the evening there will be entertainment from MCs Party Peeps.
There will also be a bar, food stalls and fairground, with a foam-filled after-party.
The event is run by volunteers from Downend Round Table, an organisation for men aged 18 to 45, with all profits going to local good causes.
Donations ranged from £250 to £7,000 and went to charities including Raeyah’s Hands of Support, which supports children undergoing cancer treatment and those diagnosed with autism, the Julian Trust Night Shelter for homeless people, accessible transport organisation Green Community Travel and a variety of schools, scout, guides and youth groups.
Round Table spokesperson Jon Payne said: “This year’s event promises to be even more dazzling, with breathtaking lights, flames, fireworks, and entertainment for all ages.”
The group says it is “stepping up its glow-in-the-dark game” for children to provide better quality flashing and glowing toys at stalls on site.
Families will be able to pre-order them online along their tickets and collect them from a dedicated click-and-collect stall by the new pavilion
Round Table is urging people to buy their toys direct from the group to ensure the proceeds also go to local good causes.
The group will use the new parish pavilion as their “command centre” this year and the area around it will be fenced off.
As this will put the pavilion toilets out of action there will be extra loos on the main field this year.
Tickets will be on sale online at downendrt.co.uk, where there will be more information about the event.
People can also email fireworks@downendrt.co.uk with questions.
Downend Round Table is a group of men aged 18 to 45 and part of a national and international network of clubs.
Jon said: “We believe that making a difference should be fun. Whether we’re hosting epic fireworks displays, or heading out for paddle boarding and pub nights, we mix friendship and laughter with purpose.”
