Flyers make good startto year

DOWNEND Flyers have made an excellent start to the new year, with the Women’s A team securing an impressive 2–1 home victory against Winchcombe Town in the Sue Hensen-Green Cup.

Winchcombe Town, who currently compete in the league above, are a strong and experienced side, making this result even more noteworthy.

The win sends the Flyers through to the next round and marks a fantastic achievement for the squad.

Cup success has also been enjoyed at youth level. The Under 14 Ospreys delivered a convincing performance at home, recording a dominant 4–0 win against Churchdown Panthers.

It was a confident display that reflects the hard work and commitment of both players and coaches, and a great start to the year for the team.

Meanwhile, the Under-14 Eagles finished 2025 on a high, and remain unbeaten so far this season. Their consistent performances have seen them dominate Division C as the club enters 2026.

The Eagles’ results are a testament to their teamwork, determination, and growing confidence on the pitch.

Club spirit across Downend Flyers FC is currently at an all-time high.

With so many teams celebrating success, the club continues to pride itself on supporting player development and recognising individual achievements alongside team accomplishments.

One such achievement the club is especially proud to announce is the selection of Amelia Moschakis from the Under-15 Harriers, who has been named in the South West England Under 15 Schoolgirls squad.

Amelia has worked incredibly hard throughout her football journey, and her dedication has been rewarded with this fantastic honour.

This achievement also reflects the dedication of the Harriers coaches and teammates, who have supported, encouraged and challenged Amelia throughout her journey.

Everyone at Downend Flyers FC is delighted to support Amelia and wishes her the very best of luck in her continued success.

Downend Flyers wrapped up 2025 in unforgettable style off the pitch with a whole-club celebration at AirHop.

More than 400 players and siblings descended on the trampoline park, turning the Flyers purple as they bounced their way into 2026 together.

It was a brilliant way to celebrate another successful year and a perfect reminder that Downend Flyers is as much about community and fun as it is about football.

If you would like to be part of this amazing club, whether as a player, coach, referee, volunteer or sponsor, we would love to hear from you at info@downendflyers.com.
