I’VE been campaigning to bring the local Post Office services we need back to Downend following the closure of the local branch.
More than 120 residents have filled in my local survey. I have shared this invaluable feedback with the Post Office, arranged a meeting with the relevant government minister, and will continue pushing for a solution.

I recently hosted the launch of the Hydrogen in Aviation Alliance’s new report.
It highlights our area’s world-leading aerospace heritage and potential to lead the future of hydrogen-powered flight, reducing the environmental impact of aviation.
I want to see Britain seize the opportunity to lead this, with Filton at the very heart of it.
I also met with the Defence Procurement Minister to discuss the important work so many do locally to support our national security and that of our NATO allies. This is all the more important in these more uncertain times globally, and our local contribution is highly valued by the Government.
Following my visit to the Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit, I was pleased to co-chair a parliamentary round-table discussion on brain injury rehabilitation, with the team based there and other experts from across the country.
I also visited ‘mydentist’ in Filton following the launch of my second survey on local NHS dentistry. This was the first issue I raised for us in Parliament, and we’ve seen some good progress with over 19,000 more urgent NHS appointments in our NHS area, but there’s more to do.

This month, my small team and I worked on 528 cases to support residents directly – including at my advice surgery, held in Bradley Stoke.
I ran my latest ‘Coffee with Claire’ event in Winterbourne, bringing residents together to share their experiences and make the case for better buses, particularly for journeys across our community. I have shared local views from this, and my online survey, directly with transport ministers, First Bus, and the West of England Combined Authority.
I spoke in the Commons about the importance of our local pubs, and welcomed government action to cut their business rates bills by 20%. My first job was waitressing and pot washing in a pub, aged 14, and I know how much they all matter to us locally.
