CARSONS & Mangotsfield’s Under-19s ended the club’s competitive cricket season with a T20 Development Final win that neatly book-ended the summer after their early-season success.
Isaac Buckingham’s poised 53, before retiring, not out, gave their 129–7 backbone and intent.
Tour Ponting’s sharp 2–17 led a disciplined squeeze on Stoke Bishop’s reply that held them to 107–6; the trophy was defended by a group playing with growing maturity and confidence.
For the first time in six years, there were no promotions for the club’s weekend sides.
The 1st XI reached the final game very much in the hunt, only for the day to be washed out before they could lay a glove on champions Frenchay.
They finished in fifth place, ten points shy of promotion, after a debut Division 3 campaign that looked assured throughout, with Kieran Gallagher making 529 runs and Jack Woodland 30 wickets.
The 2nd XI are lodged in a bottleneck in Division 7, where only one side goes up, finishing third despite cricket that deserved more.
Harry Ravenscroft’s 431 runs and Ben Child’s 28 wickets formed the spine of a side that refused to drift.
The 3rd XI is in a rebuild, which in club cricket usually translates to “half the team nearly has GCSEs”.
Relegation sends them to Division 9, but their purpose remains clear as a proving ground for youth. Mike Norris topped the run charts with 245, while Liam Nichols’ 14 wickets led a bowling group learning quickly.
The 4th XI wrapped up early, finishing mid-table after a season of social, developmental and surprisingly competitive cricket. Tom Carter’s 227 runs and Ben Harvey’s 15 wickets were the standout contributions.
The Sunday XI’s finale was also rained off, and they finished a respectable fourth. George Farmer made 482 runs and Jack Woodland 21 wickets.
So no weekend promotions but a senior T20 league win and junior silverware reminding everyone that the club’s momentum didn’t stop, it simply shifted.
Cricket seasons aren’t judged solely by tables, but by the tales they leave behind. Carsons & Mangotsfield have written a good one in 2026.
