ORGANISERS of the Downend Round Table Fireworks display have offered some last-minute advice for people attending this year’s display.
More than 10,000 people are expected to watch the display – one of the biggest in the region – at King George V playing fields on Friday, November 6.
Round Table says tickets for the event – which raises money for good causes in the area – are selling fast.
Early bird discounted tickets have already sold out, and people are being reminded that all tickets are only available online at www.downendrt.co.uk.
A spokesperson said: “Ticket resale by third-parties is not permitted, so beware of anyone claiming to be selling tickets for the event. Tickets are also not sold on the gates.”
The site and stalls will open at 5.30pm, with music starting from 6pm.
Award-winning pyrotechnics company Skyburst have put together two displays for the event, including fireworks, lighting and ‘G-flame’ static flame bursts, all choreographed to a musical soundtrack.
The first display at 6.30pm is a “family-friendly” reduced-noise show aimed at younger children.
It will be followed by a bonfire lighting at 7.15pm then the main fireworks display at 8pm.
Afterwards comperes Party Peeps will host a foam party until 9pm.
Round Table are advising visitors that all profits from sales of children’s glow-in-the-dark products on site will go directly to charity – but anyone selling them outside the park is not affiliated with Round Table.
A wide variety of food and drink stalls, including a licensed bar, will be open on the site throughout the evening: visitors are being advised that all vendors at the event are card-only.
They are advising people to travel to the site on foot or via public transport if possible, as there is no parking on site and the area is expected to be very busy.
Parking is also restricted on Westerleigh Road, Badminton Road, Sutherland Avenue, Farm Road, Farm Court, Cleve Road, Garnett Place and Peache Road, with enforcement being carried out.
The park entrance on Westerleigh Road is usually the busiest, so organisers are recommending people who don’t want to queue for as long to use the quieter entrances on Sutherland Avenue and Kimberley Close.
