TICKETS for Downend Round Table’s annual charity fireworks display go on sale at the start of October.
Organisers say this year’s entertainment – the traditional main and quiet displays, bonfire and stalls – will again be boosted by a pre-display show by the “incredibly talented” Batala Bristol samba group.
The group will return after its debut at the event last year was a hit with the audience.
But Round Table says the “real stars of the show” are the range of local charities and community organisations whose work throughout the year is supported by money raised by the event.
Last year the display set a new fundraising record, making £61,000 for charities including:
*Julian Trust Night Shelter, which provides safe spaces for homeless people across the South West
*Mothers for Mothers, which supports mums experiencing mental illness
*It’s in the Bag, which raises awareness and support for testicular cancer
Round table chairman Daniel Deffley said: “This is one of the highlights of our calendar every year, and we’re delighted to be bringing it back for its 55th anniversary.
“It’s a huge team effort, and none of it would be possible without our fantastic sponsors and the local community, who come out and support us every year.
“Every ticket sold goes towards helping incredible local causes, so we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for what’s going to be a brilliant night.”
Tickets go on sale online on October 1 at downendrt.co.uk, where more information is available.
Downend Round Table says standard ticket prices will be frozen from last year, and there are also a limited number of ‘early bird’ discount tickets – these sold out within 36 hours last year.
Seated and VIP options will also be available again.
