PAGE Park Bowls Club were runners up in this year’s Lloyd Trophy for teams in the Bristol area.
A team representing the Staple Hill club played against Bristol St Andrews at Henleaze Bowls Club on September 2 but missed out on the trophy.
It was one of the highlights of the club’s 75th anniversary season, which still had a few games to go as the Voice went to press.
The club has a thriving membership of 120, making it the second-largest lawn bowls club in the area, with members ranging from 14 to 90 years old, and runs popular introductory courses for newcomers to the sport every year.
Page Park Bowls Club lead coach Don Willcox said: “We have never gone further than the quarter finals before in this, Bristol’s most prestigious competition.
“It would have been a great end to our 75th anniversary year had we won!”
