Strong start to season for Bristol & West

Bristol & West Men’s 1st team are off to a cracking start in their hunt for promotion back to the West Premiership this season.

The hockey side, based at Mangotsfield School, is currently second in the league after three games, with a 3-0 victory over Exeter University 4s, a 2-2 draw away against Clifton Robinson’s 3s and a 5-0 away win over Old Bristolians.

Up next are back-to-back home games against Exeter-based opposition, followed by a double-header weekend at Penzance and Caradon soon after.

The Ladies 1s are off to a solid start, drawing tough games against Team Bath & City of Bath but managing to secure a big win on the road against BAC 1s. They are more than up for a promotion charge this season.

Elsewhere in the club, the Men’s 2s have had a mixed start to the season.

They’ve won, drawn and lost their first three games, hoping to find some stability before challenging for the top of the table later.

The Men’s 3s are struggling to adjust to life in their new division – it’s a parallel league of the same level as the 2s, with arguably stronger competition.

They are yet to register a point but remain hopeful of finding some form soon.

The Men’s 4s and 5s are off to 100% starts, each winning all three of their opening games, whilst the Men’s 6s development team have managed to secure their first three points.

Both the Ladies’ 2s & 3s are on three points each, whilst the 4s (development team) are showing some great progression, with two wins and a draw so far.
