Sarah reaches target

A MUM has hit her target of running 225km to raise £1,500 for a Downend school.

Sarah Davis ran 1km for each one of the 225 pupils at Christ Church Infant School in Christchurch Avenue.

The Royal Navy medic has two children at the school and wanted to raise extra funding for the “incredible” extra-curricular work the school does to support pupils’ mental health and well-being.

She started the challenge in March, completing a 10km run on most days before finishing with a run alongside pupils, staff and families at the Page Park parkrun on March 29.

Sarah said: “The final run was great. There were so many of the kids there from school, and some of the teachers joined, too!

“The head teacher Anna Martin ran with a group of the children around her, which was lovely to see.”

The school plans to use the funds raised by Sarah’s challenge to pay for one of the teaching assistants to become a ‘thrive practitioner’, a specialist role supporting children’s social and emotional development to improve attendance, behaviour and well-being.
