IT’S (somehow!) been two years since fellow residents elected me to represent our fantastic community in Parliament.
Every advice surgery, letter, email, Coffee with Claire and Pub Politics event, and every doorstep conversation shape the work I do serving you.
Thank you to the thousands of you who have contributed so far. It is the privilege of my life to serve you and our community – your home and mine.
In these two years, I have contributed 125 times in Parliament and voted 502 times on our community’s behalf.
I have supported 7,832 fellow residents, securing at least £522,643.60 that they were due, by taking on 14,362 cases – and sending 32,194 emails.
Last month my team and I worked on 888 new cases and I held my advice surgery in Frenchay. My Coffee with Claire event at SGS College’s WISE campus focused on opportunities for young people.
I’d like to thank Keir Starmer for his focus on our community – from visiting our excellent defence and aerospace companies to the Beaufort Arms pub, he got to know our community well.
I met with Andy Burnham ahead of him becoming our next PM. He made clear that he also knows our community is not only incredibly important, but where lots is happening that others could learn from elsewhere.
I also secured meetings with the Health Minister and Housing Minister to champion local priorities, including access to NHS dentistry and the proliferation of HMOs.
I met with defence ministers about the Government’s new Defence Investment Plan to help strengthen national security and support local defence jobs.
I also visited defence logistics company Leidos UK at its base in Emersons Green, where it employs 210 people, to hear more about how its work is supporting both national and local priorities.
Following a recent event and survey on local mental health services, I wrote to the Health Secretary to help inform the government’s upcoming mental health strategy.

In recent weeks I’ve met with UWE, Filton Town Council and the Elm Park Leisure Centre team, and Street Life and FareShare at St Chad’s Church in Patchway, to help cook for homeless people.
I’ve also visited some fantastic summer fairs put on by dedicated volunteers, including the Frenchay Flower Show, the brilliant community festivals in Filton and Charlton Hayes, school fairs at Filton Hill, St Michael’s and Bailey’s Court Primary, and the re-enactment at Winterbourne Medieval Barn. What a special place, ours is!
Making it an even better place to live is what drives me everyday. There’s lots more to do!
