HUNDREDS of people found out more about the police, their work and their equipment at a community event organised by the force.
The Emergency Services Fun Day in Page Park gave people the chance to try on riot shields and helmets, chat to their local officers and sit in the driving seat – or be locked in the back – of a police van.
Police horses Michael and Windsor received plenty of attention from animal lovers visiting the event in September.
Although commitments elsewhere meant the fire and ambulance services were unable to attend, organisers from the Avon & Somerset Police Diversity and Inclusion Team said the event went very well.
Diverse outreach worker Abdulkadir Sheikhusein said: “The feedback from residents was overwhelmingly positive, and there was a genuine sense of community spirit throughout the day.
“For us, the event was all about bringing people together, strengthening community cohesion, and creating opportunities for local residents to connect with each other and the organisations that serve them.”
The team hopes to bring the event back to Page Park for a fifth time next year.
