A DOWNEND primary school welcomed six other schools to its second annual tournament.
St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Primary School invited teams of Year 5 and 6 pupils from Christ Church Juniors, Mangotsfield Primary, Lyde Green Primary, Glenfrome Primary in Eastville, The Park Primary in Kingswood and Somerdale Primary in Keynsham to the tournament in May.
Head teacher Mark Hilliam sad: “It was an honour to host our second Year 5 and 6 football tournament.
“We had lots of teams here and were very proud that St Augustine’s made it to the semi-finals.
“Congratulations to Christ Church Juniors, who won.
“It was a wonderful event, well attended and supported by our PTFA, who sold refreshments. “Special thanks should go to Mrs Natalie Fitzgerald, a teaching assistant in the school who organised it from scratch and involved our kind parent helpers.
“None of this would have possible without the hard work of Mrs Fitzgerald or the parent helpers who volunteered their time.”
