THOUSANDS of families have taken advantage of the dry summer holiday weather to track down sculptures on this year’s Gromit Unleashed 3 trail.
The trail, raising funds for the Grand Appeal for Bristol Children’s Hospital, features 53 uniquely decorated sculptures of characters from Aardman Animations Wallace & Gromit films dotted around the region, from Cheddar Gorge to Thornbury.
Louise Stanton, of Downend, sent in a picture of her sons Owen and Rhys, aged nine and six, with Sweet and Tidy Norbot at Warmley Waiting Room on the Bristol & Bath Railway Path.
Louise said: “Both are loving Gromit hunting this summer.”
Lucy Lacey sent a picture of her family with Gnarlybot, in Quakers Friars.
Lucy said: “My family and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around Bristol on a Saturday, and visiting the various characters along the way!”
Becky Gelver made a three-day visit to Bristol from Sunbury-on-Thames in Surrey to bag Gromits.
Becky said: “I drove 516 miles and walked 66,000 steps to find all 53 of them – great fun!”
Mowgli, the Jungle Book-inspired Gromit, was the star attraction at Pucklefest, a festival at the Rose & Crown pub in Pucklechurch held in August. Official photographer Rich McD captured the statue with fans.
The trail finishes on August 31, but anyone who wants to see the sculptures all in one place can visit them at The Greatest Dog Show on Earth 3, an exhibition at the Mall, Cribbs Causeway, from September 13 to 28.
