Flyers gain momentum

THERE’S plenty to celebrate this month for Downend Flyers, with all three senior teams showing determination, progress, and exciting football as the season gathers momentum.

The First Team are enjoying an impressive run of form, now four games unbeaten across league and cup competitions.

Their recent performances have seen them book a place in the next round of the County Cup, adding confidence and momentum as they push forward in the league.

The squad’s blend of experience, resilience, and attacking spark has been clear in recent weeks, with goals galore – long may it continue!

Our Reserves have also been making headlines, particularly in the Women’s Challenge Cup.

A commanding 3-0 victory over local rivals Mangotsfield secured their place in the next round and marked the final game in charge for our Reserve team manager Mark Bragg.

We thank Mark for his dedication and wish him well for the future.

The club is now beginning the search for a new manager to lead this talented squad. Anyone interested in the role is encouraged to contact the club via our social media channels.

The Reserves will be looking to use their cup success as a springboard to bring greater consistency into their league form over the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the A Team continue to impress with a young and energetic squad, featuring several players enjoying their first season in women’s football after progressing through our youth pathway.

Their recent 4-4 draw away at then unbeaten Lydney Town was a thrilling contest and a standout performance, which highlighted both the team’s attacking flair and growing confidence.

With all three teams showing promise, pride, and passion, there’s never been a better time to get behind your local club.

Why not spend a Sunday afternoon cheering us on at Pomphrey Hill?

Your support means the world to our players, and we’d love to see more members of the community cheering from the sidelines.

Come down, enjoy the football, and be part of the Flyers family!
