A COMMUNITY effort saw £4,500 raised over a weekend for two good causes.
Mangotsfield Community Association held its annual spin cycle fundraiser at the Red Lion pub in May 2 and 3.
Volunteers took to the saddle and cycled the 940 virtual miles from Mangotsfield to Lisbon to support St Peter’s Hospice and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
The event was organised by the MCA’s Mike Heath, Karen Fox, and Matt and Sarah Proud, supported by the Red Lion team and Soul and Funky Disco.
Sponsors included CBS Consultants, Easter Compton Farm Shop, Dave the Baker from Patchway and the Window Hub.
Mangotsfield Residents Association chair Clive Heath said: “This annual event just gets better every year. It will be a great help for both charities that do so much for people.
“As well as the sponsors, the organisers would like to thank all those that took part in the spin cycle ride, the auction and the raffle.
“It was a brilliant, fun-filled bank holiday weekend – well done to our community for their support and generosity.”
