DOWNEND Round Table has confirmed the return of this year’s annual charity fireworks display at King George V Playing Fields in November.
The volunteer group will stage the 55th anniversary event in its traditional slot on the first Friday of the month, which this year will be November 6.
The show will stick to its established format of two displays: a quieter early one for younger children followed by the spectacular main event.
Award-winning pyrotechnicians SkyBurst will again provide the fireworks, which will be choreographed to music and incorporate a light show and G-Flame fire effects.
The traditional bonfire, built using 100% recycled wooden pallets, and a display of model hot air balloons will also help to light up the night.
There will be live entertainment including a foam party from Party Peeps, a fairground, food and licensed bar, a wide selection of food stalls, and a family fairground.
Last year’s event attracted more than 10,000 people and raised a record-breaking £61,000 for charities and local good causes, from tickets and on-site sales of quality glow-in-the-dark toys.
Downend Round Table spokesman Dan Upton-Arkless said: “We’re proud to once again be running this beloved community event, which has been a local staple of the Bonfire Night period for many years now.
“The team are hard at work preparing for its return, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and brighter than ever!
“We couldn’t do this every year without the amazing support from the public, and of course the many volunteers working behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly.
“Every ticket we sell contributes to supporting some amazing local charities.”
